Bladen Springs Kennels Adoption Policy
& Procedures
Our goal, first and foremost, is to make the entire process of choosing
a Lab a fun and enjoyable experience.
We offer our owners some of the finest dogs in the southeastern United States, from
labs with Champion pedigrees for Field Trials and hunting to family pets. All our dogs are 100
percent full-blooded AKC Registered Labradors.
Waiting Lists
& Deposits
Adopting a Labrador at BSK can be done in two ways. First is
by getting on one of our waiting list until the litter actually arrives. To do this you must first contact us at
BSK for information on upcoming litters. Once we have established that we have
an upcoming litter that meets your needs, a $200 deposit is required to hold
your selection on the waiting list.
The deposit can be placed securely through our website under the "Deposits" selection using a PayPal account, major credit or debit card. We can assist you if necessary through our secure PayPal process. Be sure and input the
quantity, color, sex and desired parents in the comments portion of the entry screen. PayPal will notify us
immediately upon receipt of the transaction. After that, we will forward you an email confirming that we
have applied your name to the waiting list of your choice. If you do not receive a confirmation
email from us within 24 hours of placing your deposit email or contact us
immediately.
In the event that the litter does not produce enough puppies
to meet the demand on the waiting list the following options will be given to
those owners who were unable to adopt.
Option 1: Receive a full refund of the deposit.
Option 2: Transfer your deposit to next available litter. Please keeping in mind that with this option, you may go up or down in your selection
priority.
Option 3:
Transfer your deposit to the next available litter that allows you to
keep your selection priority.
Adopting a puppy can also be done by continuing to check our
website for available Puppies. We post all our litters on the front page of our
website along with the Dam, Sire, and puppy availability. After contacting us you can place your deposit in the same
manner as those on the waiting list have done through our deposits menu. If the litter is more than 7 weeks old
you can contact us and we will process your adoption of any available puppy. At this stage, the full payment price would be due.
Puppy Picks
Once the litter is born and your deposit is confirmed, we will provide weekly litter updates on our website up to the end of week 5.
At the beginning of week 5, BSK will call you to schedule an appointment for you to visit our
facility to make your puppy selection. The puppy pick priority has already been established by
the manner in which deposits were received at BSK.
For those who are unable to visit the kennel, we offer puppy pick selection over the
internet. In these cases we will provide several different profile shots and
detailed personality traits of each puppy available. We will also offer any
advice on selections if requested.
Once you have made your puppy pick, the balance on your puppy
will be required within the next 5 days. You can complete your balance in the
same manner you made your deposit or by sending cash or check to BSK.
Puppy Take Home
& Shipping
Once the puppy picks are complete the puppies will remain at
BSK for an additional two weeks to complete the weaning process from the mother.
The puppy will also receive it’s six weeks vaccinations, continue it’s
de-worming treatments and make the final transition from mothers milk to solid
food.
At the end of week 6 we will call you to schedule your appointment to pick up your puppy at the end of week 7.
When you arrive at BSK to pick your puppy up, we have
developed a “Puppy Package” to review with you prior to going home. This will
take about 20-30 minutes but it will include the following review of:
1.) All
AKC Paper work and applications
2.) Vaccination
records
3.) 26 month
Health Guarantee
4.) Feeding
times, Diet, Puppy Chows
5.) Advice
& information on house breaking
6.) Recommendations
on training
7.) General
Questions & answers
Shipping
If your puppy is being shipped to its final destination,
certain requirements must be met prior to shipping. Listed below are the
following:
1.) BSK
ships to all destinations within the continental US including Canada. Any other
destinations must be pre-approved prior to shipping.
2.) FAA
regulations state that puppies must be 8 weeks of age prior to Shipping.
3.) The
puppy must be Health Certified by a Vet within 10 days of Flying
in the US and 3 days when flying to Canada.
4.) The
puppy must be flown in an approved certified flying or travel Kennel.
5.) Temperatures
cannot exceed 85 degrees or go under 35 degrees within
the flight path of the final destination.
6). Flight reservations cannot me made prior to 5 days of the actual ship
date. This is to allow for extended weather forecasting.
7.) All shipping costs are the
responsibility of the Owner of Buyer of the Puppy
and will be paid prior to shipping. The average cost of shipping a puppy is approximately $350.00 to $400.00.
Finally, all Flight Reservations, Health Certifications,
Travel Kennels, & delivery of Puppy to the airport will executed by the breeder but will
include these charges in the shipping cost bared by the buyer or owner of the
puppy. Puppy Packets will be shipped to the Owner separately.
