We just wanted to give you an update on Winnie. She’s the last yellow girl from Drake and Sugar’s litter in the spring of ’08. Hard to believe it’s been that long.
If you remember, my previous chocolate had passed and after a couple years I was looking for another. I told you I was looking for a part-time bird dog, and a full-time family (house) dog. You said that the traits of Drake and Sugar would be the perfect combination. Well, she is exactly what I was looking for.
Winnie is very well mannered, very polite, has a great attitude and is fearless. She’s attentive when she wants to be, and she is very, very easy to teach. She loves everybody that gets near her and they have no choice but to love her back. She is an attention hog though, if anyone pays some attention to the cat, (or anyone else for that matter) Winnie will make sure that you pay more attention to her. When she does occasionally get in trouble, all you have to do is give her a stern look, raise an eyebrow and she falls to pieces.
She’s turning into a dog now and not quite as much puppy (still has plenty at times though), she’s very protective of her family and her house. Make no mistake, it is her house, she just lets us hang around. We bought her a dog bed but she’s decided the futon is better so that’s were she relaxes and sleeps. Usually between 9 & 10 o’clock she has crashed and she sleeps like a log.
She is great bird dog already, a natural in the dove field, all business. Her first hunt this year she retrieved 10 birds on her own (I walked her through the first 2). One of them was a blind retrieve across a small canal, but she pulled it off. She has only had “very informal” training from me but she definitely has the “it” that all good bird dogs have.
Naturally, she loves the water and swims like a fish. If the boat is hooked up to the truck in the driveway, she will go sit by the driver side door and you can’t get her to move. It’s impossible to count how many smiles she brings to us. Tell Drake and Sugar that they did good and thank you guys for an absolutely fantastic friend. Here are some pics for you.

Vickie and David,
Sorry it has taken me so long to send you guys another update on our pup Grady that we got from you guys in October. He is doing great!!! He has such a calm temperament to be a puppy, but is always ready to play at the same time.
I can't tell you the number of people who have stopped me when I'm walking him to tell me what a beautiful dog he is. I can't help but agree! He has done so wonderfully with his training. He was housebroken in just a few weeks and was sitting, staying, and fetching very quickly too. He is such a great dog and we couldn't be happier. I attached a few pictures for you. Hope you are doing great!

Vickie and David, Just wanted you to know that Chief is adjusting well. He is immensely happy with his siblings and new parents (as we are all smitten with him). As he is officially 12 weeks old today, I figured I’d give you an update.
He is 22 lbs now and he will SIT on voice and handcommand. We are fairly close to STAY with both voice and hand. We need about another week or so for the hand command to stick though (still breaking often).
We’ve worked on a few other voice commands that he is responding well to including: FETCH (with hand command reinforcement), OFF, DROP, COME, IN, OUT, and obviously NO! He is still quite the nipper with those sharp teeth and he’s a little aggressive when you force him to drop toys, but we’re working on that. We take him out one more time around 10:30 before he goes down for the night. He’s sleeping until about 5:00 a.m.
He is being crate trained so that is going somewhat well. We crate him in our bedroom so he knows he’s part of the family. He is very smart and is developing a great personality. Thanks again, he really is a great pup, and I’ll follow up with more info as it gets interesting.
Regards, Rod Johnson

Hi Vickie & Dave,
Believe it or not I was going to write you and tell you that Tucker is doing magnificently. He has turned into one beautiful Lab. His personality is just delightful and I get compliments on him all the time.
He is a star at the airline. There are photos of him everywhere. We celebrated his one year birthday with him eating a boneless rib eye steak, a doggy Connolly, and getting his own blanket with his name on it. He is truly my best friend. He loves swimming in the lake and gets two walks a day.
He weighs 90 lbs and is all athlete. I can't say enough about Tucker. As a matter of fact he is barking at me right now to play with him. I have to say he is my shining star in my life. I couldn't imagine life without him now. I am truly glad he picked me and not the other way around. We are inseparable.
Best regards,
George Rozinak

Mr. & Mrs. Savage,
Derek and I just wanted to give you all an update on Brody and Captain, and some pictures of their first couple of days here.: ) They have been great! They have adjusted wonderfully to their new home, and are in love with their new sister, Harley, a beagle.
They both have such wonderful personalities and dispositions already. Their favorite activities are wrestling together, playing tug o' war with their toys, eating (of course), playing in the dirt (they love getting dirty) finding pinecones to chew on, and chasing their ball in the yard. They had their 1st checkup at the vet today and the vet said they are doing excellent! They are in perfect health. They were both so cooperative for the vet and his staff. Brody even fell asleep on the examination table! The whole office commented on how beautiful and sweet they were, and the vet told us that we must have gotten them from a wonderful breeder! : ) Captain weighed 9 lbs. 13 oz. and Brody weighed 10 lbs. 13 oz; they are getting to be big boys! Even though Captain is a little smaller he definitely seems to be the leader of the two and Brody is so laid back and goes with the flow. We will keep you all updated and send new pictures of them!
Thank you so much for our new babies : )

Vickie,
It's been a while since I got my puppy from you, and I just haven't had or taken the time to write. But I want you to know how very much joy Roxy has brought to us. She is truly a sweetheart. In case you dont remember, Roxy is one of Link and Gracie's pups born August 29, 2008. You told me how sweet and loving Gracie is, and Roxy is just the same. She is very well behaved and extremely smart. She is a very social puppy and goes absolutely crazy when she sees people and dogs. I dont think I will ever have much of a guard dog with her, because she loves everyone!
Roxy is the star of the show at the groomers (her spa!) and the vets office, and I have strangers stop me and ask if she is the Roxy they have heard about. She is a very popular little girl.
She is not perfect of course, she does love to chew, but quickly tells on herself when she does something wrong. She will go and sit quietly beside you and just look at you until you ask her what she did. When you find it, you dont have to scold her, she will drop her eyes and get on her bed. I work 12 hour shifts (at night) so I keep her in the kitchen while I'm gone. I came home yesterday and she had gotten my new vogue magazine of the kitchen counter and shredded it. When I walked in the house, she didn't meet me at the door as usual, she just stayed on her bed. Until I cleaned all the paper up, she wouldn't get off her bed and play. Once it was all cleaned up, she was back to her very active self. Such a smart little baby!!
Anyway, just wanted to brag a little...... Sorry I cant send any pictures yet... she cant seem to stay still long enough for me to take any. But I will very soon.
One more thing, do you anticipate another litter from Gracie and Link? I want to get Roxy a pal and I would love her/him to be as sweet and smart as Roxy. And I certainly want it to have the boxy head that she has. If you get a chance, please let me know your thoughts on this.
Thank you,

Mr. & Mrs. Savage,
Derek and I were just getting ready to send you all an update about the boys! I am sorry for getting back to you so late, but I hadn't had a chance to download my newest pictures of them and I wanted to make sure you all got updated pictures. They are still the two sweetest puppies we could have ever asked for. They love to snuggle and cuddle with everyone especially each other, and are absolutely spoiled rotten. They love giving kisses and love everyone they meet. They are great when they meet new people, dogs, and kids. It's amazing what wonderful temperaments they have; they are so laid back.
They have grown so much...Brody is now around 60 lbs. and Captain is around 55 lbs; they are getting really big. We still continue to get compliments wherever we go. We can't take them on walks without getting stopped numerous times with people telling us how they've never seen such gorgeous dogs, wanting to pet them and asking where we got them from. They are some great little advertisers for your business : ). They love taking walks and their favorite place to be is the beach. Brody loves to swim after sticks; Captain likes to get in the water, but he waits closer to shore for Brody to bring the sticks to him. They are both completely house trained now and are attending puppy class. They are the stars of the class; so smart and they love the other puppies in the class. The instructor compliments them all the time. She is amazed at how calm they are and how they are so gentle with the other puppies even though they are much bigger than all the other puppies in the class.
The greatest thing has been to see how they have gotten such distinct and different personalities. Everyone, even their vet, describes Brody as the little “gentleman.” Although they are both laid back, Brody is a little calmer than Captain. He is very quiet and is happy to do whatever, and go where ever. He is the bigger of the two, but does not realize how big he is and still wants to be a lap dog (and of course we let him : ) ) He always looks so sweet and definitely has the sad puppy dog eyes, My mom always comments on how it would be hard to discipline him. He likes to stick close to me (Megan) and follows me wherever I go. Captain is our little character. He makes us giggle just looking at him.He always has this mischievous look about him, and just looks like he’s getting ready to find some trouble to get into. He is very outspoken and “talks” to us all of the time. He is very dramatic and wants to make sure people know when he’s around. He is smaller, but is definitely in charge. Captain wants to be entertained and will bark at us if he feels like he is not getting the attention he deserves.
One thing that hasn’t changed is how much they love each other and love being together. People often laugh when they see them both together and ask us “what did you get yourselves into?” but we couldn’t be happier and can’t imagine life without the both of them. We feel so lucky to have them and are so happy that they get to grow up together. Thank you again for our wonderful boys. We will continue to be in touch to keep you all updated on how they are doing.
Thanks!

Hi Vickie!
I can’t believe it’s only been a month since we picked up Gunnar! It’s getting difficult to remember what life was like without him. He definitely keeps us on our toes that’s for sure! I took some more pictures this past weekend and he’s just getting so big and handsome I had pass them on to you. We truly can’t go anywhere without somebody stopping us to say how gorgeous he is! I think the best comment I got was “he’s not just cute, he’s like puppy calendar cute!” HAHA! Here are the pics and I’ll be sure to keep the updates coming! Hope you and David are doing great!
Thanks again for our little man!!
